This puppet, one of a set of three, were made of wiliwili wood by a man named Nahainaka over 100 years ago. They were used in many skits, mele (songs and chants), and hula ki`i (dance performances) by a hula teacher named Pa`akaula in Wai`anae and Moanalua, O`ahu. These puppet performances were often very funny, frequently satirizing current social and political issues.
Purchased: E. Pa`akaula
