Royal Family Portrait

(46k)

Gathered here are Kamehameha III (center) and his wife, Queen Kalama (left); Kamehameha IV (left rear), Kamehameha V (right rear) and their sister, Victoria Kamamalu (right). This is a daguerreotype, the first practical way to capture images through a photographic process. The process had been invented in France 14 years earlier.
