Queen Lili`uokalani kept her personal thoughts in her diaries. And, after her overthrow in 1893, she sometimes wrote her diary in a numeric code. During her imprisonment in 1895, without a diary, she managed to write some notes on a small card. Nine diaries are preserved by Bishop Museum. We are privileged today to be able to read them.
