Bishop Museum KIDSAIL Project
Sponsored by Bishop Museum, this Hawai‘i mentor program provides an
intensive learning environment focusing on voyaging for 90 Hawai‘i sixth graders. By teaming these students with Bishop Museum staff
and community cultural specialists, the students will become the
communicative link to thousands of other students in the state and
the nation.
The program will serve two additional student audiences:
a) KidScience television program viewers, who will ask questions of
their "KidSailor" peers during the showing of the education tv
series; and
b) students taking special classes from Museum staff and mentors.
Two adult audiences who will be served by the KidSail program are
DOE teachers, receiving training on computer technology and science
instruction for classroom science activities; and teachers
participating in Bishop Museum Teacher Workshops which will be
based on all the activities generated by the science/sailing
program.
