Hōkūle'a - Hawaii Maritime Center

Hōkūle'a

For more than 25 years Hōkūle'a has travelled throughout the Polynesian Triangle using only the stars, winds, waves, and wildlife of the Pacific to navigate.

She was built to test whether Polynesian double-hulled canoes were able to travel over thousands of miles of open water on puposeful voyages.

Since then she has become an important symbol and catalyst of a revitalization of Hawaiian and Polynesian culture.
