Formation of the Hawaiian Islands

How did our island home come to be? Enjoy an interactive multimedia presentation exploring some cultural and scientific theories of volcanic island chain formation and plate tectonics. Participate in engaging activities and experience 3-D views of the Hawaiian Islands.

HCPS III – Benchmarks
Science:
SC.4.8.1 Describe how slow processes sometimes shape and reshape the surface of the earth.
SC.4.8.2 Describe how fast processes (e.g., volcanoes, earthquakes) sometimes shape and reshape the surface of the earth.
SC.8.8.5 Explain the concepts of continental drift and plate tectonics.

Location: Cafeteria or gym

SCHOOL MUST PROVIDE:
-Permission for students to eat oreo cookies and an apple in selected location
