Booking a field trip – information and prices
The following rates and programs are valid only for schools in the Hawaiian Islands (preschool through 12th grade).
For other groups, including college groups (from Hawaii and elsewhere), school groups from continental US, adult groups and others, please call Bishop Museum Visitor Services at 808.847-8210 or email ctazawa@bishopmuseum.org
If you are a Hawaii-based, Pre K through 12th grade school, you can make a reservation as follows:
Please have the following information ready:
- Three alternate dates
- Number of students
- Grade or Class
- Program Selection
- Leader/Contact Person
- School/Address/Phone
Fees for Hawaii-based Pre K – 12th grade schools are listed below. This is a “one price includes all” cost; in other words there are no additional costs for educational programs.
- Students: $5.00
- Adults (beyond the ‘free chaperone’ limit): $6.00
Regarding fees
- Bishop Museum members, passes and discounts cannot be applied to the school visit fees.
- You are eligible for these fees ONLY IF:
- Reservations are made at least two weeks in advance
- You have a minimum of 5 students
- Your students are Hawai‘i residents
- Your students are Preschool - Grade 12
- You bring the required number of chaperones
- For groups making reservations less than two weeks in advance:
- Planetarium not available
- Guided tours not available
- Supervising Adults/Chaperones:
To maintain a quality experience for all of our visitors, please remember that you must bring the required number of supervising adults. Required adults are FREE unless otherwise specified.
- Preschool - K: 1 adult per 5 students
- Grades 1-12: 1 adult per 10 students
Lunches
- Bishop Museum does have covered lunch areas and your group will be booked into a lunch area if you wish to have lunch during your visit.
Payment
- School Purchase Orders preferred
- Checks or Cash acceptable
- Pre-payment may sent in anytime after receiving confirmation packet
Cancellation/Schedule Changes
- Call as soon as possible, to ensure your school's continuing ability to reserve visits
- Refund issued if cancellation is made one week prior to your visit

On the Day of your Museum Visit:
- Bring a copy of School Visit Schedule for ALL adults/chaperones
- Name tags are required for everyone at all times
- Check-in at curbside with completed School Visit Check-in Form (Groups checking in after 12:00 noon please report directly to Education Office)
- Bring lunches in boxes or bags with school name printed on outside
- Additional payment may be made at the Education Department
- All Hawai‘i teachers may visit the museum at no charge any day prior to your scheduled visit to become familiar with the Museum grounds and exhibits. Please contact the Bishop Museum education department (848-4168 or education@bishopmuseum.org) to set up this visit.
