Special Exhibit Guides

Hawaiian HallThe Bishop Museum will open its major new exhibit in Hawaiian Hall in August 2009.  To support its educational mission, the Museum needs to recruit a large cadre of dedicated volunteer docents.

The Museum’s goal is to establish Nā Kukui ā Pauahi, a exclusive group of dedicated volunteers who will guide groups of various ages and interests through the many stories told by the exhibits in Hawaiian Hall. Special tours and programs centered on the Museum’s collections displayed in the Hall are being developed for the guides.  Learn more about volunteering for the reopened Hawaiian Hall here.

If you like variety and learning new things become a Special Exhibit Guide (SEG) for the new Richard T. Mamiya Science Adventure Center, or join the team of SEGs in the Castle Building where each few months a new exhibit is on display.

If you are 18 or older and willing to make a commitment of one 4 - hour shift per week to the Museum please complete the online volunteer application and email the form to humanresources@bishopmuseum.org or print it out and mail to:
